While the school year ended for most on June 23, several members of the NPUT executive and negotiations teams headed to Saratoga to attend the 2023 Summer Leadership Conference, held at the Gideon Putnam Hotel, June 26-27. This conference is organized by the Mid-Hudson Regional Office of NYSUT and is attended by NYSUT leadership, NYSUT Labor Relations Specialists, and union representatives from nearly 30 different districts.

Christiane Dates, Jenny Denman, Paulette Easterlin, Kacie Fisher, Jim Longbotham, and Nikki Sullivan attended sessions geared toward the roles they serve for NPUT; A Local President’s breakfast, workshops on negotiations, newsletters, CBR training, Political Action, and Constitutional Review (as we gear up to revise NPUT’s constitution and bylaws), among others.

It wasn’t “All work and no play” as there were raffles throughout and dinner, dancing, cocktails, and a photo booth at the Hall of Springs. Chatting and mingling with members of other local unions is fun and offers an opportunity to discuss common problems we may face, and hear about the creative solutions others have tried.
