Thank you to all NPUT members who brought in food items or donated money to our food drive for Family of New Paltz. They were incredibly grateful to receive our collection of items to restore their food pantry. We hope to have a spring fundraiser under way soon.
While the school year ended for most on June 23, several members of the NPUT executive and negotiations teams headed to Saratoga to attend the 2023 Summer Leadership Conference, held at the Gideon Putnam Hotel, June 26-27.
NPUT was proud to sponsor scholarships for members of the Class of 2023. This year, in addition to scholarships for students pursuing the field of education, or demonstrating intellectual curiosity and valuing education, we were pleased to assume the sponsorship of the Valedictorian and Salutatorian Awards.
During the first day of our 2023-2024 school year, NPUT members were treated to a visit and remarks from NYSUT President, Melinda Person and Executive Vice-President, Jaime Ciffone. To illustrate the power of unions on individual households and the general economy through the security they provide, Person spoke of her personal experience growing up with one union parent and one non-union parent.
